On Sat 31st July (6PM) Spork! Poetry will be holding our first ever Slam Competition, which sees 12 South West poets battling it out for a cash prize and the title of Spork! Slam Champion!!
The show will also feature performances from award-winning songwriter and storyteller Gecko, as well as local comic poet Julie Mullen.
The slam is set to be fierce, with some strong contenders confirmed, including Glastonbury Slam Champion Jackie Juno, World Slam Finalist Kathryn O’Driscoll & loads more talented artists.
The outdoor show is part of the Theatre in the Park season curated by Exeter Phoenix, at Rougemont Gardens (the dippy bit just behind the library)

Gecko is a singer & storyteller who’s performed his work at Glastonbury, Bestival, BBC Radio 1 & the Edinburgh Fringe. He’s shared stages with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Loyle Carner, Tim Minchin & Billy Bragg.
Last year he appeared on the Bafta nominated TV show ‘Life & Rhymes’ on Sky Arts. And in March his song ‘Rapunzel’ went viral on Tik Tok gaining over 200k views in under 48 hours. His second album ‘Climbing Frame’ is out now, and he’ll be touring the UK with a new show later this year. Visit geckoofficial.com
