Alexandra Onofrei

Alexandra Onofrei is a writer, doctoral researcher in anthropology & DJ (under the name Lexia Majora.) As a spoken word artist and poet, she brings forward themes that are close to her heart: mental health & mental illness, love, sexuality, gender expression, nature and capitalism... (but also potatoes and scabies and stuff like that.)

"This piece was inspired by my own struggle to write a poem for this commission. As someone who suffers from depression and other mental illnesses, I wanted to capture and perform some of the obstacles, surprises and consolations I encountered. I wrote this piece in hope of ending the stigma around depression, because so many people live with it every day and that’s something to be proud of. Because it’s damn hard." - Lexie
