Spork Up!

** Applications Now Open **

Spork Up! is a 4-week artist development program for emerging spoken-word artists to develop their practice and hone their skills.

We'll select 4 artists from across the South West to take part in 3 online workshops led by Kat Francois, Kareem Parkins Brown & Jasmine Gardosi. The 4 selected artists will also have a piece professionally filmed and a feature set at a Spork gig on October 28th.

Each artist will be paid a set fee of £750. More info about the program below.

The program is open to any emerging spoken-word artist over the age of 18, living in the South West of England (this covers the following counties; Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Bristol, BANES, Wiltshire Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall)

You can be any age but you must still be considered an emerging artist. By 'emerging' we mean that you have started to get paid for some professional work as a spoken-word artist, (e.g paid gigs, teaching opportunities, commissions) but that you have not been working in a semi-professional capacity for any more than 3 years.

You must be able to provide at least 3 previous examples of relevant paid opportunities (e.g. feature/headline spots at live or online performance events, commissions, awards etc)

You should also provide a filmed example of your work. It doesn't matter if this is a recording of a live gig, or something you've filmed at home. But you'll have to upload it online and provide a link.

DEADLINE: Sat 3rd Oct @ 5PM

for any access requirements, don't hesitate to get in touch with Chris at sporkpoetry@gmail.com. Please note that the day of filming and the gig will take place in-person in Exeter, Devon. This is subject to change due to the COVID-19 situation, and all events will be as socially distanced as possible and in-line with current guidance. The 3 workshops will take place via Zoom.
