about Spork!
September to December 2021 has been a really exciting time for Spork!
We worked with 4 new local artists who took part in workshops, underwent professional development & created 4 amazing videos (watch them all HERE)
We took Spork! on tour, to Totnes and Newquay
And we programmed a series of workshops and events with some brilliant artists from all around the UK including Harry and Chris, John Hegley and Jasmine Gardosi
"With an incredibly talented line-up and a charming host, Spork! celebrates spoken word poetry in all its forms, making for an authentic and amusing show to please any audience member." - Razz Mag Feb 2020
Spork! was created by local artist Chris White in 2018 to bring accessible & fun spoken-word to the region. We're community led, are constantly trying new ideas and love working with partners accross the city.
In the past 3 years, we've put on over 40 events, including slams, haiku workshops and online gigs. We've worked with a range of partners from Newcourt Community Centre to Mothers Who Make, and have programmed drag queens, brass bands and rappers, as well as some of the best spoken-word artists in the UK and beyond, including Buddy Wakefield, Vanessa Kissule and John Hegley.
Spork! is regularly supported by Arts Council England, as well as Exeter UNESCO City of Literature
